Loes Schellekens was born in 1955, and has lived most of her life in Utrecht. She has studied at the Academy for the Visual Arts at Utrecht (1975-1980) and the Academy for the Plastic Arts at Amersfoort (1981-1985). |
From 1983 until 1999 she was part of 'Atelier Tij', a group of artists mostly from Utrecht. Later on also of artists society 'de Ploegh' at Soest. Currently she is a member of the 'Fidem' ('Fédération Internationale de la Médaille d'Art') and the Dutch Society of Sculptors. She's also a member (and former board member) of the 'Dutch association of Medal Art'. |
In 1996 she was awarded the 'Pieter d'Hont'-prijs for sculptors, and later on took part in the exposition of prize winners. Loes Schellekens works as a free artist and in commission. |
Her works have been bought by numerous institutions and companies, such as - ABN-AMRO (Amsterdam), - World Wildlife Fund (Zeist), - Seal Hospital Pieterburen, - Heijmerink Construction (Utrecht), - Merwede Hospital (Dordrecht), and - centre for revalidation 'De Hooghstraat' (Utrecht). |
